glazing pain
Growing up, not trying was seen as cool. No one liked the “try hard.”
In college, taking pain seemed to be trending. It was like, wow, “I barely slept entire last week because I grinded so hard on XYZ.”
And then in startups, I’ve seen social media content about how great founders all have childhood trauma.
I understand the sentiment, but damn, hating on kids who were diligent or students who slept adequately. Or indirectly praising childhood trauma.
Like the groups we associate with or the content we consume flood our nervous system. And it’s always changing too.
Hearing people talk, I constantly detect the prevailing opinions of self justification. Not that I think it’s wrong, but mayhaps a reminder for the preachy side that it’s not that serious. That rightness and wrongness are not worth banging the brain over.
