listening to music w no lyrics
I love music.
I’ve noticed a pattern in how people’s taste evolves.
As a kid, you love pop. In college, nothing hits like a throwback 2010s pop song.
Then you get into EDM, like Summit. Then it gets more house, maybe Tiesto or David Guetta... Then it drifts toward techno and afrobeats, where hearing Fred DJ live beats any recording, and deep cuts and Daft Punk-style grooves hit hardest. And then maybe it goes deep into techno or bass.
The connecting line is fewer lyrics, more vibes.
I see life the same way. At first, you need something to grasp: a grade, the school you get into. As you grow older, what you grasp gets vaguer. You stop needing lyrics and instead, let the rhythm guide you. You set tangible goals, but you also start looking for intangibles like fulfillment. You hold onto the experience of life itself instead of the outcome at any given moment.
The people I’ve noticed who can enjoy music with no lyrics also seem to enjoy life more. They’re less fixated and more free. If someone can settle into a lyric-less sound, they’re quieting the part of their mind that’s always narrating, and that’s what lets them stop overthinking and just be in the moment.
